Members Only

He told us to come and we did
which was right off the grid
to an apocalypse: 
a mountaintop reenactment
of the Shining Face Society
attended by the post-dead.
We non-members are non-privy to the conversation,
on a dance floor without partners
clueless where to put our feet,

once again
cast in the epilogue -
stumbling down the hill
blinded by the flares
beating back the darkness.
