Luke 18:9-14

Bad Company

O God of our salvation,
lest we forget:

nothing is true that does not have its source
in your wisdom;

or does us any good
that has not been salvaged 
by your mighty arm;

or is worth our loyalty
that has not been engraved
in your holy covenant.

And so we set our faces away
from every righteous ruse,
joining voice with the tax collector
who has invested his life
in our undoing -

have mercy.
